ICE Totally Gaming 2019 edition

The National Betting Authority participated for the third consecutive at the ICE Totally Gaming 2019 international exhibition, the world’s largest gambling exhibition, held in London from February 4-7, 2019. This year’s exhibition has attracted the interest of more than 30,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors from 150 countries worldwide.

Headed by National Betting Authority’s chairwoman, Mrs. Ioanna Fiakkou, the delegation visited the ICE exhibition where it held contacts with respective EU and international regulatory authorities and representatives of gambling companies. It was also briefed on the latest developments and new products showcased at the stands. The National Betting Authority’s delegation also had bilateral meetings,  and discussed, inter alia, ways to enhance cooperation on common issues with other regulators and partners, such as gaming certification labs, non-profit organizations for responsible gambling, potential betting providers, anti-money laundering companies, and more.

The National Betting Authority delegation also attended lectures and specialised seminars organised within the framework of ICE VOX. This year’s edition of the seminars included the following seven topics: electronic crime and security, e-Sports, international casino developments, lottery modernization, advertising and marketing, world regulatory briefing and artificial intelligence.

ICE is held in London every year and offers company officials from the gambling sector and regulatory bodies the opportunity for networking, business development, information and exchange of views.

Relocating to new offices

The National Betting Authority (hereinafter referred to as “the Authority”) announces its relocation to new offices at 83 Digeni Akrita Street, 1070, in Nicosia.

To this end, the Authority’s offices will remain closed from 20 to 22 of March 2019.

The public service will be held in the new offices of the Authority from Tuesday, March 26, 2019 with working hours from 7:30 to 16:30.

Results of written examination for the fulfilment of vacant position for NBA Officers and NBA Assistant Secretariat Officers

The National Betting Authority announces the results of the written examinations to fill the vacancies of NBA A8-A10-A11 Officers (10 positions) and A2-A5-A7 Assistant Secretariat Officers (5 positions) held on January 26, 2019.

Successful candidates in the written exams (in order of success) will be called for an oral interview. The number of successful candidates to be called for the oral interview will be equal to three times the number of vacancies, provided that the successful candidates have met the requirements as set in the announcement of July 28, 2017.

Representatives from the Oyo State Gaming Board of Nigeria visited the National Betting Authority’s offices

Delegates from the Oyo State Gaming Board of Nigeria carried out a training trip to Cyprus with the aim of work shadowing and gaining expertise on licensing and compliance topics.

The competent Nigerian Regulatory Authority is represented at the highest level by the CEO of the Gaming Board of Oyo State and the Director of Human Resource Management, while the mission also includes a representative of the Nigerian gambling operators and a senior official. The delegates are trained by the officers of the National Betting Authority (NBA) on regulatory and supervisory matters, as well as on administrative procedures.

The agenda of the visit, which is held from May 27 to May 31, includes presentations on NBA’s already-acquired know-how on regulatory frameworks, compliance, licensing of operators, technology infrastructures, as well as responsible gambling programs, on which NBA has upgraded its activities and experience in recent years.

The study visit also includes a meeting with the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission, as well as with licensed gambling operators in Cyprus.

This is the first such reception of a foreign institutional mission in Cyprus for gambling know-how, highlighting the experience and recognition gained internationally by the National Betting Authority.
