Warning – Illegal and misleading websites
The National Betting Authority warns the public that the website https://parimatchcyprus.com.cy/ contains false and misleading information where, among other things, it directs the user to the website https://n1bet.com/en-CA?modal=signUp, which provides illegal betting services as it does not hold a license according to the Betting Law of 2019. It is clarified that the website www.parimatch.com.cy with the same tradename holds a Class B license to provide betting services granted by the NBA, which is currently inactive for technical reasons.
In view of the above, the NBA urges the public to be particularly careful when betting and be aware of the legal and licensed companies that provide betting services, which can be found at the NBA’s website https://nba.gov.cy/.
It is also reminded that, based on the National legislative framework, the following apply:
Land based – Class Α
Legal
- Betting premises which hold a Class A license from the NBA,
- The games of chance provided by OPAP Cyprus (such as Keno, Joker, Propo etc.),
- The government lottery and the private or small lotteries issued following a relevant license from the Ministry of Finance,
- Horse racing in places licensed by Nicosia Horse Racing Club and
- The games provided by the resort casino in Limassol and satellite casinos throughout Cyprus, which are supervised by the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission.
Illegal
- Any game of chance made with a mechanical, electrical or other device in which the player must pay in cash or tokens to play in order to make a profit is considered illegal, regardless of the type of game (e.g. “slots ” or slot machines), poker-type machines, racetrack or speed-racing machines, bingo machines, etc.),
- Greyhound races,
- Card games, outside of licensed satellite casinos, and
- Betting on premises that do not hold a license from the National Betting Authority,,
- Betting exchange,
- Spread bet.
Online -Class Β
Legal
- Companies providing online betting services which hold a Class B license from the National Betting Authority
Illegal
- Online casinos
- Online gambling, e.g. online slots/slot machines, joker, online dog races, etc.
- Online bingo and online lotteries,
- Betting exchange,
- Spread bet.
