E-Governance Conference: Transforming for the New Digital Era

The National Betting Authority and the Youth Board of Cyprus are hosting a digital conference titled “E-Governance: Transforming for the New Digital Era – The road to digital transformation and a modern state”, on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 10:00am.

Digital transformation is widely recognised as an essential tool in the creation of a modern state whose services, institutions and bodies respond to its citizens’ demands and serve their needs. Regarding the digital transformation of the broader public sector, the Government of Cyprus has been taking steps in this direction in recent years, through its implementation of policies specifically aimed at bringing the state into the digital era.

The conference will address issues such as the policies/strategies that need to be adopted, the process of transforming the public service and the training of public servants. Recent actions taken by the Government and various public sector organisations regarding digital reform will also be presented, together with the challenges experienced during the process. Strategic Business Plan 2021-2023

With the aim of establishing Cyprus as a hub for development and innovation in the gambling sector guiding every aspect of its activities, the National Betting Authority has drafted its Strategic Business Plan, which will guide its actions and initiatives for the period 2021 – 2023.  The Strategic Plan was drafted, taking into account the conditions and challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has created, and it is based on four main pillars:

  • Enhancement of the Authority’s operation
  • Improvement of the regulatory and legislative framework
  • Protection and empowerment of the players and the public
  • Fair and safe and transparent gambling activities

The Authority drafted an Action Plan seeking the optimization of its internal operations, improvement of its regulatory and legislative framework, the enhancement of its supervisory role, the further development and innovation of the sector, as well as the protection of the players and the public.

In order to upgrade its operations, the Authority prioritizes the implementation of efficient methods of operation and governance, the further development and implementation of its Technological Infrastructure, as well as its Human Resources development and retention.  At the same time, the Authority will continue to work towards the simplification and automation of procedures, for the reduction of bureaucracy and operational costs and the increase of operational development and transparency. QUARTERLY FINANCIAL RESULTS AND QUANTITATIVE DATA

The National Betting Authority is systematically publishing quarterly reports on the Financial Results and Quantitative Data for the period starting January 2015 to the current quarter. The goal of this publication is the maximization of transparency and better public awareness.

The results for the quarter of 2020 (July-September) that are presented are derived from the detailed financial statements of Class A and B licenced bookmakers, as well as from the data that are stored to the Authority’s registry.
